The “15 inch” is THE loudspeaker that every “do-it-yourself” audiophile must have to reach the first octave of their system.
For this, we have created not one, but 4 different models, which each meet a different expectation.

Whether you are looking for extreme bass descent, or the realistic physical impact of a drum for example, we now offer THE solution.

Explanations:

Since 1986, DAVIS has offered its catalog with a 38 cm speaker, well known to fans of DIY (Do-it-yourself = kit!), the 38 RCA 15.

This model has undergone several modifications throughout its history, several chassis, several versions (single or double ferrite, single or double spider, with double coil, there was even a 20 Hz version…).

From now on, make way for 39 cm!

New chassis therefore (390 mm overall diameter), with branches in ultra-rigid (and very ventilated) Zamac, with decompression under spider…

Everything is done to reduce distortion and promote firm and transparent bass.

Two options are available to you regarding the magnetic motor (in all cases, assembled in France, from pole pieces machined in the Paris region):
– a simple ferrite version, for a dry and physical strike (for connoisseurs: short coil, small folds suspension), this is the R version
– a double ferrite version, for a more enveloping bass (long coil and rubber suspensions, for long travel), This is the G model .

Once you have made your choice on the character of the desired bass, we then offer you 2 different types of membranes:
– carbon*: CA (in the form of braided and damped carbon fibers), which ensures low deformation of the cone and therefore a very realistic bass,
– the paper: PA (technically called cellulose pulp) which provides not only an inimitable tone (still very popular), but also a higher output (around + 1 dB compared to the carbon version).

*: the first woofer designed in carbon was produced by the company SIARE, at the beginning of the 1980s, under the technical direction of Michel VISAN, founder of DAVIS Acoustics.

These were then not braided fibers but flat triangular pieces, stuck together to form a cone.

Davis, since its creation, has continued to use this material, mainly for its bass and low-midrange drivers.

Today, find carbon in the Courbet 5 and 7 woofers
