HERITAGE

THE PLEDGE

With The Pledge, Davis Acoustics introduces the third and final model of its Heritage range, completing The Wall and The Stage. First unveiled as a world premiere at the High End Munich show in May 2025, then presented at the Paris show in October 2025, this floorstanding loudspeaker will be launched on a larger scale from mid-January 2026, with in-store listening sessions already planned.

Visually, The Pledge fully embraces a neo-vintage inspiration, while its design is resolutely modern and uncompromising. The cabinet features particularly thick and highly dense panels, resulting in remarkable inertia. This construction choice leads to a substantial weight, ensuring excellent control of unwanted vibrations and a cleaner, more controlled bass response. With dimensions of approximately 110 × 22 × 35 cm (H × W × D), the speaker remains relatively slim, yet is clearly positioned in the high-end segment.

From an acoustic standpoint, The Pledge adopts a three-way bass-reflex architecture, entirely based on loudspeaker drivers developed in-house by Davis Acoustics.

High frequencies are handled by a cone tweeter, an emblematic solution of the brand, delivering greater energy and presence than a conventional dome tweeter. It features a 19 mm voice coil combined with dual magnet assemblies, generating a highly concentrated magnetic field for fast, precise and lively treble reproduction.

The midrange is entrusted to the iconic 13 cm Davis Acoustics driver, equipped with its central dispersion phase plug, a true signature of the brand. This transducer excels in the reproduction of voices and timbres, offering clarity and coherence that have long been hallmarks of Davis Acoustics designs.

Low frequencies are produced by a 17 cm woofer with a cellulose pulp cone, featuring a 37 mm voice coil, a large ferrite magnet and a rear decompression vent. This vent provides both improved cooling of the motor system and effective decompression of the space behind the dust cap, contributing to a bass response that is articulate, tight and well controlled.

The crossover reflects the same audiophile standards: point-to-point wired filters, without any PCB, using Paris-made cables from HiFi Câble & Cie, with conductor diameters adapted to the different frequency ranges. This clearly artisanal approach is focused on transparency and musicality.

With a sensitivity of approximately 91.5 dB, The Pledge proves relatively easy to drive. Initial listening sessions conducted in the Davis Acoustics listening room as well as at trade shows have confirmed excellent versatility. The speaker performed equally well with tube amplifiers—notably a standout pairing with the Jadis Ode—and with solid-state amplifiers, such as the Audio Analogue Puccini, another particularly well-received combination.

In listening, The Pledge delivers a sound that is spacious, balanced and engaging, capable of building a stable and credible soundstage while maintaining strong dynamics at both low and higher listening levels. This is a loudspeaker that goes far beyond its specifications and truly deserves to be heard in real-world listening conditions.

For Hi-Fi enthusiasts drawn to an artisanal approach, a strong sonic identity and uncompromising design, an in-store audition is highly recommended.
